The Trend Performance module allows you to identify uptrending or downtrending products in the market. In this article, learn how to identify trending patterns and incorporate them into your assortment.
Stocking up trending patterns is one of the key ways to increase sell-out and minimise overstock.
Step 1: Identify trending patterns
The Trend Performance module does not require filtering by a brand or retailer to generate insights. To get an overall market analysis, you can begin by selecting your preferred market. From there, click on the drop-down menu under the ‘Group by’ filter and select Pattern.
The Overview tab provides an aggregated view of all the trending patterns in the market. If the overall trend score is positive (i.e. trending up), the chart is represented in green. Conversely, if the trend score is negative (i.e. trending down), the chart is represented in red.
Step 2: Narrow down to uptrending patterns
The Trend Scorecard provides key insights into a particular trend. As shown in the performance chart, Graphic had a trend score of 4.0 and consistently outperformed all other materials during the period of the analysis.
Based on the pattern’s trend performance throughout the timeline, you can see how the demand changes over a period of time.
Clicking on any of the charts will present you with products tagged under that category. Above is the example of graphic patterned products found in tops.
The findings from this analysis provide insights into existing graphic patterned products to inform your product development process in terms of design, styles, colours and patterns.
Step 3: Identify uptrending patterns by retailer or brand
On the same Trend Scorecard tab, you can also find the top retailers and brands with graphic patterned products in their assortment. To view the products, click on any of the retailer or brand names shown on the chart.
To get a better context of a trend’s potential, we recommend comparing both uptrending and downtrending trends to help identify an emerging trend or a trend slowly coming back into popularity before your competitors.
With these indicators, you can better understand pattern positioning, which helps you to spot opportunities for the next production.
